New Cub Scout programming was introduced on June 1, 2015 with the high-level goal of aligning it more with Boy Scouts of America. The objectives of the new programming are:
The programming remains family-oriented with an outdoor program focus. Each year, Scouts will advance to the next rank through "Adventures," which are focused on learning through "doing" rather than "listening". These theme-based experiences will take about three den meetings to earn. Immediate recognition will be provided with belt loops and pins. Cub Scouts will now adopt the Boy Scout Oath and Law rather than the Cub Scout Promise and Cub Scout Law. |
